Transit Time
Estimator

Estimate road freight transit times across the UK, Europe, and North America with the correct drivers' hours rules per region — EU 561/2006 for HGVs and international vans, GB Domestic Rules for UK-only vans, US FMCSA Hours of Service for US & US–Canada trucking, and Canadian federal HOS — plus European weekend truck driving bans. Built for dispatchers, planners, and anyone who needs to know when a van or truck will actually arrive.

What it does

More than just a distance calculator.

Most transit calculators just divide distance by speed. This one simulates the journey minute-by-minute — applying the real-world rules that govern how long a professional driver can actually be behind the wheel, and when they simply can't drive at all.

Drivers' Hours Rules

Applies the correct ruleset per region and vehicle class — EC 561/2006 for European HGVs and international vans, GB Domestic Rules for UK-only vans, US FMCSA Hours of Service (49 CFR 395) for US & US–Canada trucking, and Canadian federal HOS for Canada-domestic journeys.

Weekend Truck Bans

Accounts for Sunday and holiday HGV driving restrictions across Germany, France, Austria, Switzerland, Italy, Poland, Spain, and Belgium. The US & Canada do not have national weekend bans.

Live Routing Distances

Real-world road distances powered by OpenRouteService, so your estimate reflects the actual route — not a straight-line guess.

Van & HGV Support

Switch between vans (up to 3.5t) and HGVs (over 3.5t). The tool automatically selects the correct drivers' hours ruleset based on your origin, destination, and vehicle type.

UK, Europe & North America

From Heathrow to Hamburg, Chicago to Toronto — domestic UK routes, cross-border European journeys, US domestic trucking, and US–Canada cross-border moves with the correct rules applied.

Departure Time Planning

Set a future departure date and time to see exactly when your driver would arrive, with ban delays and rest stops built in.

How it works

Four steps to your ETA.

01

Enter Your Route

Type your origin and destination — city, postcode, airport, or full address. We geocode both points with UK, European, and North American biasing for accuracy.

02

Pick Your Vehicle

Choose van or HGV and enter the weight in tonnes. This determines which drivers' hours rules apply to your move — EU, GB, US, or Canadian.

03

Set Departure Time

Optionally choose when your driver leaves. Leave it blank to calculate from now. The simulator runs minute-by-minute from departure.

04

Get Your ETA

See total transit time, estimated arrival, breaks and rests applied, any ban delays, and the countries traversed — all in one clear breakdown.

Guidance Only

A planning tool — not a quote.

This estimator applies EC 561/2006 drivers' hours rules for HGVs and international vans (including tachograph requirements for LCVs from July 2026), and GB Domestic Rules for UK-only van journeys. It also uses a simplified table of European weekend truck driving bans. It does not account for traffic, weather, ferry schedules, loading and unloading times, public holidays, seasonal variations, or local restrictions.

For a confirmed transit time and a dedicated vehicle quote, talk to our dispatch desk — we'll factor in everything the calculator can't.
